Cover Pages & Homework

Each week we will upload a calendar (the Cover Page) listing the daily lessons in class as well as nightly Block homework.  Scroll down to see the most recent page and assignments. This calendar aids long term planning but for the most up to date homework assignments please review your student's daily planner.

Every weekend your child should review the prior week's Cover Page and assignments with you as well as teach you a small lesson about one of our topics. Please take a few notes directly on the Cover Page and then sign the completed packet.

Greatest Civilization Essay Pointers

  1. You should have a catchy, creative title to open your essay with. Avoid titles like: Greatest Civilization, The Sumerians, or Essay on Phoenicians.
Make sure you have a clear thesis with three reasons in your introduction. Just list the reasons in the introduction and go into more detail for each reason in each of your body paragraphs.
  2. Your body paragraphs should include 4-5 facts (concrete details) that support your thesis about how the reasons make your civilization of choice greater than the others.
  3. Be sure to have at least five references (handouts, books, encyclopedias, and an online source) and create a separate Bibliography page to list your references. Check the Citatation Machine link (found in Online Resources section on Weebly) to assist with putting together proper references.
  4. Be sure to include four images that are placed within your essay. They shouldn't be too big or too small and they should support your essay.
  5. Include transistion sentences between your paragraphs to tie them together and create a flow of ideas.

***Bring in all your drafts to turn in with your final draft.***
